PacMar Technologies and Perseus Materials Launch Construction of Sea Blade 27’ Technology Demonstrator
Collaboration demonstrates advanced manufacturing processes on Sea Blade 27' hulls
Honolulu, HI (July 8, 2026) — PacMar Technologies and Perseus Materials today announced a formal agreement to start immediate construction of the Sea Blade 27’ (SB27) technology demonstrator.
PacMar Technologies (PMT) has been designing, servicing, and building maritime vessels for over 50 years. PMT builds patented hulls with exceptional stability, range, and speed in extreme sea states. Perseus is the developer of Continuous Sweep Additive Forming (CSAF) manufacturing technology, which allows for the rapid construction of large composite structures at speeds, costs, and quantities not achievable by other methods.
The SB27 is a new, mid-size model of the patented and well-proven Sea Blade Entrapment Tunnel Monohull (ETM) form. It features an advanced high seakeeping hull form optimized for high payload, range and top speeds greater than 60mph. It has been expressly designed to meet the demands of military and paramilitary customers for both manned and unmanned vessels (USV). Its size fits the gap between the SB20 and SB40 models employed as USVs and patrol boats.
“Teaming with Perseus to implement the SB27 will demonstrate the boatbuilding advantages of their advanced technology,” said PMT Chairman Steven Loui “The entrapment tunnel monohull design of the Sea Blade structurally complements the CSAF process, offering synergistic manufacturing benefits.”
“We are honored to bring Perseus’s unique CSAF process that combines the quality of autoclave molding with the CAD-to-physical adaptability of 3D printing to PacMar Technologies’ line of world-class vessels,” said Dan Lee, CEO of Perseus Materials. “CSAF was designed to solve limitations of classical 3D printing, including low build speeds and heavy structures due to its weak mechanical properties. The Navy needs capable vessels, at scale. Our partnership with PMT is well-positioned to accelerate delivery of capable, swarming vessels of all class sizes.”
CSAF was developed with the support from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), ARPA-E, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Perseus is moving into its first pilot facility for SB27 production in July 2026.
About PacMar Technologies
Our company was founded in 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii with a focus on developing advanced ships to improve passenger ride quality, reduce operator injury, and improve hull efficiency. These engineering capabilities quickly led to innovations in hydrodynamic simulations, novel hull form designs, cutting edge motion control systems, and advanced marine prototype fabrication and testing.
Pacific Shipyards International is Hawai’i’s largest, full service commercial shipyard, providing maritime repair, maintenance, and we’ve since grown into a diversified technology company with a national presence, leading the way in research, engineering, design, and construction of manned, unmanned and automated systems.
